Why did I get a low balance warning?

Linking your accounts allows Petal to see the balances of those accounts. Not only does this help you keep track of all of your balances in one place, but it also helps to make sure the balance of your linked account is high enough to cover a scheduled payment.

The balances of your linked accounts are updated every time you log into the app. We’ll also check the balance of a linked payment account when you schedule a payment from that account and again two days before your scheduled payment date to make sure there are enough funds to cover your payment. If your balance is too low when we check, we’ll give you a heads up via email. This is especially helpful for Petal 1 members who are charged a returned payment fee of up to $29.

If you recently transferred funds or if there is a connection issue with your bank, there could be a delay in the reflection of those funds in Petal’s system, so we recommend double-checking your balance in your bank account directly if there is any confusion.
